Fareham-based recruitment company, Roma Black, launch December fundraising campaign for local charity Sophie’s Legacy - 01 | 12 | 22

Fareham, Hampshire: Roma Black today announced their ‘12 Days of Giving’ fundraising campaign for Sophie’s Legacy, a local charity providing support to families facing childhood cancer. Over the course of 12 days in December, the recruitment company will be hosting various events to raise funds and give time to the charity’s efforts.

These events will include a ‘Winner Winner Christmas Dinner’ raffle, a ‘Quizmas Crackers’ pub quiz and members of the Roma Black team becoming ‘Santa’s Supermarket Helpers’ by inviting shoppers to put an extra item in their trolleys for families in hospital. With help from supporters, Roma Black is hoping to raise £1000 and give 19 combined hours of their time towards the efforts of Sophie’s Legacy.

“As a mother of two myself, Sophie and her family’s story really spoke to me. Sophie was so strong and her legacy one that we want to support as much as we can.” Says Lauren Windebank, Founder of Roma Black. “The work that Sophie’s Legacy carries out can really help parents and children who are suffering and need support in the hard times, especially now at Christmas. If we can support them in any way, big or small, and put on a smile on someone’s face - then we know that is time well spent.”

Sophie’s Legacy is a charity created in memory of a remarkable young girl who sadly died from cancer aged 10 in 2021. The charity provides support to families in hospital facing childhood cancer and advocates for improved conditions for those families. Their goals are to change conditions through:

  • Providing a play specialist 7 days a week in hospital

  • Improve food options for children in hospital

  • Have parents be fed when staying with their child

  • Have GPs, nurses and health professionals be trained in childhood cancer

  • Increase funding (currently 3%) in childhood cancer research

Founded in 2018, Roma Black is a global specialist talent partner in the Tech and Built Design industries. Using their platform and resources, they’re dedicated to giving back to their local community; previous work includes raising £895 for Solent Mind in October and participating in a local beach clean in July.
